His multi-faceted talents as a hit songwriter, accomplished producer, sought-after arranger and expert musician have characterized Russ DeSalvo's lengthy and illustrious career in the music business. A handful of projects that he has been part of in one or more capacities are represented separately on his discography.
However to highlight a few: 98°, Celine Dion, Trisha Yearwood, Marc Anthony, Bebe Winans, Tina Arena, Sophie B. Hawkins, Mya, Anastasia, Jennifer Paige, Natalie Grant, Michelle Wright and Amber. He has also worked on specialty projects for Disney and Mattel for film, television and DVD.
During Russ' 30+ years with a career in music he has written, produced, arranged and performed on many multi-platinum selling records. From his early days at the Hit Factory to becoming one of the most desirable session players and touring with Carlos Santana (during his special Rainbow tours) led him to becoming friends with renowned producer, Narada Michael Walden. Russ’ session with Cutting Records/Polygram recording artist, Safire, inspired him in the early years to write a song specifically for her, "Thinking of You", which became a Billboard #6 hit and also with Sweet Sensations "If Wishes Came True", which went on to be #1. Both songs won him the ASCAP Pop Award of the year in their respective years, and more recently, Russ' song "Keep On Shining" by Natalie Grant had won him the 2002 ASCAP Christian Music award. Whether he is working with rising- or super-star artists, Russ has been instrumental in helping take the music vision and direction of these artists he works with and shaping and arranging songs around them.
His continuing music business success has Russ emerging as one of today's "A-List" producers and songriters. He often collaborates with famed lyricists Arnie Roman, Dana Calitri and Amy Powers, who, in addition to their own #1 and Top-10 songs, have penned hits with Russ for Celine Dion, Tina Arena and the soundtracks, Pokeman and Tinkerbell. He has received Emmy nominations for his song "Shine" for Mattel and an ANNIE Award nomination for best music in a feature animation for Disney's Princess series.
In 2008, Russ signed a publishing deal with Primary Wave Music and is excited to be a part of such an established roster of iconic artists coupled with an elite team of support staff at the company.
